I wondered aloud yesterday what it would be like if Nadia Bolz-Webber wrote a devotional.
So I’m going to help her this week.
Five days of Nadia.
One devotional thought each day this week (a veritable Pastrix slapathon!) to start your day with accompanying scripture and inspirational image.
Thought of calling them “Nadia Snippets.” But I like “Snappit” better for some reason.
We had started caring about each other, but in the end none of us knew how to care for each other. But this experience taught me that a community based on the idea that everyone hates rules is, in the end, just as disappointing and oppressive as a community based on the ability to follow rules.
~ Nadia Bolz-Weber, Pastrix
When the ten others heard about this, they lost their tempers, thoroughly disgusted with the two brothers. So Jesus got them together to settle things down. He said, “You’ve observed how godless rulers throw their weight around, how quickly a little power goes to their heads. It’s not going to be that way with you. Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.”
Matthew 20:24-28 | Message Bible
God, help me to embrace the people you actually bring me and to learn to live with their smell, even as they learn to live with mine. Through Jesus.
