worn out

09 Jul

Okay, one more poem from Dale Fredrickson’s Help Me Be.

So loving the verbal savoring of these poems (poetry must be read aloud, people! They must!) in the cool and gentle air of these summer mornings.

Indulge yourself for a moment.

Do some verbal savoring…

When you feelhelp me be
worn out
stressed out
perplexed about.

When you’ve been
Tweaked
Twisted
Pulled
Pushed
And turned about.

You are
A misshapen mysterious beautiful mess.

You want to
Freak out,
Knock someone out,
Permanently log out.

There’s no refuge or rescue,
No shade or aide
Day after day,
No helper or shelter,
No protection or direction,
More depression and self-deception.

The Lord? The Lord. The one who is:
Ancient, Present, and Future.
Powerful, Mighty, and Bold.
Patient, Passionate, and Prophetic.
Will the Lord be or not be?
Can the Lord set you free?

The Lord will be your refuge,
The Lord will come to your rescue.
The Lord will supply shade,
The Lord will give you aide,
As certain as Night and Day.

The Lord will be your helper,
The Lord will supply shelter.
The Lord will provide protection,
The Lord will give direction.
Hold on. Hold on.
Affirmation and exclamation,

You are Beloved
A misshapen mysterious
beautifully LOVED mess.

The Lord will be your shield
The Lord’s love will never yield
Tweaking, Twisting, Pulling, Pushing, and Turning.

                Your Transformation Revealed.
